"I eat whatever I want. I like bread and cheese and wine, and that makes my life fun and enjoyable." - Gwyneth Paltrow
October is one of my favorite months. It is the start of cooler weather, my husband’s birthday, and Virginia Wine Month.
One of my favorite Virginia wineries isn’t too far from home, and has some of the most breathtaking views I’ve ever seen. Also, their wine isn’t too bad either. They have some of the best reds we have ever tried, and the staff is amazing.
Saude Creek Vineyards, is simply amazing, and today I am sharing my favorite wines - which all happen to reds.
1791: This is Bordeaux-style blend with earthy flavors of blackberry and cherry. Also, you get amazing flavors of smoke, tobacco, and espresso.
Perfect Pair: Ribs
Merlot: This bottle gives you an amazing aroma of spice, blackberry, and cocoa. It is a medium-bodied wine. You will get hints of oak and black cherry on the palate.
Perfect Pair: Burger
Cabernet Franc: Subtle accents of black pepper with a rounded balance of black cherries. It is very bold red, but simply amazing.
Perfect Pair: Ham
Petit Verdot: With a smoky aroma, the Petit Verdot is rich and has spicy flavors of tobacco and black pepper. This amazing bottle is currently sold out at the vineyard.
Perfect Pair: Veal
Barrel 76: You will get amazing aromas of mocha and black cherry followed by flavors of smoke, tobacco, and espresso.
Perfect Pair: Grilled Steak
Syrah: This full-bodied wine encompasses a combination of blackberries, dark cherries, spice, and smoky small notes of dried herbs. Also, this beauty is aged in oak barrels. It is super smooth and so well balanced.
