Recently, my husband has been loving a new quaint spot, tucked away in Downtown Norfolk, and has been begging me to give it a try. Pendulum Fine Meats & Market, is absolutely so cozy, and you are welcomed with kind faces, and some of the best food the city has to offer. Pretty much everything is made in house! From their fresh mozzarella, baked bread, and aged meats, this place knows how to dish out quality ingredients to their guests. Not only do they have a wide selection of meats, but their wine selection is wonderful. You’ll be able to find a lot of local beers and wines available for you to enjoy with your meal.

One of the coolest things about this spot is that you can create your own spice blend! Pendulum has a dedicated corner in the market, to show off their wide array of spices. This is the coolest thing, and it’s so nice to discover new ways to elevate your dishes at home.

There is such a wide selection of meats for purchase, also they have an in-house butcher who can literally cut anything for you! Pendulum, also can curate some really neat dishes, as well as give amazing suggestions on what to try. The staff is so knowledgable, kind, and willing to offer the best advice when it comes to the menu!

G’s Order: Big Tex
G ordered the Big Tex sandwich - Slow Smoked Brisket, Caramelized Onions, Pickles, Served on House Made Texas Toast, BBQ Sauce & Mustard. This is one of his favorite dishes at the restaurant. Each sandwich comes with the most perfectly crispy seasoned fries. and their in-house dipping sauce - garlic aioli. Also, all of their bread is made right on-site, which is absolutely so amazing!

My Order: Custom Grilled Cheese
As many of you all know, I do not eat red meat, and haven’t in many years. So, when my good friend Carmen who works at Pendulum, offered to make me a custom grilled cheese sandwich, I was super excited! We discussed all of the fresh and delicious ingredients that could be layered in between the house made focaccia bread, and settled on the following items: swiss and cheddar cheese, bacon, mustard seeds, caramelized onions, and spicy ancho mayo. The flavors on this sandwich were out of this world! Also, I was so impressed with how the chef made me something so special to enjoy.
Grilled Cheese + Fries with Garlic Aioli
This place has a little something for everyone - an amazing wine selection, great music, quality ingredients, a cute little market, and great people. I always love visiting places where the staff is so kind, and amazing food is served up! Pendulum is so awesome, and I cannot wait to visit again very soon!
