Spring Style

"Fashion is about dressing according to what's fashionable. Style is more about being yourself." - Oscar de la Renta

Spring is officially here y'all! I absolutely love this season. The warmer weather is upon us, and it's time to switch up the wardrobe a bit!

Today, I'm super excited to share a few of my favorite items for Spring.

  1. Lariat Necklace - I love a statement necklace! This piece can dress up a casual outfit. It is perfect to pair with a basic tee and kimono.
  2. Sandals - Since it is warmer, it's time to find the perfect sandal. I recently got my first pair of Birkenstock and they are very comfortable. These are perfect with jeans, and any casual look.
  3. Crossbody Bag - This lightweight bag is versatile and so cute! During warmer months I typically go for clutches and crossbody bags. I try to carry my essentials, and have gotten away from larger bags. This is perfect, and the color is absolutely lovely.
  4. Sneakers - I love going on walks and being outside when it is super nice out. These sneakers are wonderful. They are so comfy, super lightweight, and form to my feet perfectly.
  5. Lace Kimono - This piece is great to layer with a t-shirt. Since it is still cool, this item is casual and very comfortable. A kimono can quickly elevate any look!
  6. Silk Scarf - One of my favorite accessories is a scarf. You can style this with a nice top. Also, if it gets a bit warm, you can also tie it on a handbag!

Body Basics

"Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live." - Jim Rohn

You only get one body, so it's key to make sure you are using quality products. I love to pamper myself, and finding great products that help me do so. It is absolutely so important to take care of your body!

Today I'm sharing a few of my favorite body care items!

  1. Body Brush - A few months ago I bought this amazing body brush! It gently exfoliates and boosts circulation, keeping the system in great condition. I love this brush so much, and it works great with all skin types. Tip: Personally, I like to use the brush before hopping into the shower!
  2. Sugar Body Scrub - This scrub is heaven, and a great alternative if you do not want to use a body brush. The scrub is infused with coconut and almond oils. It's perfect because the scrub exfoliates your skin while nourishing it at the same time!
  3. Firming Body Emulsion - I absolutely love this lotion! During Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale last year I decided to try this product, and really enjoyed it!  The formula is enriched with shea butter and natural oils. My skin is super sensitive and I love the way this feels!
  4. Cleansing Towelettes - These beautifully scented and gentle towelettes are great to use! They are infused with essential oils and smell amazing. I carry the towelettes everywhere, they are great for on the go!

Sky's the Limit

"Passion is what gives meaning to our lives. It's what allows us to achieve success beyond our wildest imagination. Try to find a career path that you have a passion for." - Henry Samueli

Happy Monday everyone! I have super exciting news to share. Today I started a brand new position within my company. I was promoted to Product Manager in a new division. I'm extremely excited to be back in a more technical role and working with a brand new team.

Today I'm sharing some tips on how to land your next role in your career!

  1. Develop your personal brand. Networking is key in developing your brand. Meeting and knowing various people within your industry or organization is essential. Not only are you able to meet amazing folks, but you're able to broaden your knowledge on various topics.
  2. Mentorship. I'm very fortunate to have multiple mentors. For me, knowledge is power, and the more I can learn the better! Having mentors also ensures that I'm accountable for my actions. A great mentor will make sure you stay on track. My mentors always pushed me to be my absolute best. Also, I've been a mentor to a few people as well. I'm able to assist others on their career path. It is a rewarding feeling to watch people grow, and it is a challenge for me as well to make sure I'm on my game as well!
  3. Clearly state your goals. A very wise woman once told me, "Clearly state your goals or someone else will do it for you." I quickly learned that if I didn't make my own decisions and stick to my guns, that someone else would do it for me. Make your intentions clear and well known! Soon after that advice was given to me, I made sure I'd clearly state my intentions and goals in all situations.
  4. Keep your eye on the prize. Once you state your career goals, it's time to put in the work. Make sure you outline everything action that needs to be made in order to get to that next step. This is an important time to identify and develop your skill-set.
  5. Expand your knowledge. It is so important to learn how to do your existing job well. Once you learn your role begin to start exploring how to do the next job. Whether you want to get another degree or complete a professional certification, it is essential to grow your knowledge.

Below are three amazing books that helped me take my career to the next level!

Recipe: Avocado Salad

"Your diet is a bank account. Good food choices are good investments." - Bethenny Frankel

Now that Spring is officially underway I'm opting for lighter meal options! I'm constantly on the go, so it's great when I can whip up something quickly. A nice light salad that is super easy to prepare totally wins in my book.

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite salads just in time for the warmer months ahead.

What you'll need:

  • Arugula
  • Avocado
  • Lemon or Lemon Juice
  • Cucumber
  • Tomato
  • Olive Oil
  • Cracked Pepper
  • Uncured Bacon (optional)

Step 1: Get 1 or 2 cups of arugula and place them in a bowl or on a plate.

Tip: If you prefer to have a few bacon pieces in your salad then slice a few pieces. Take the small pieces and begin frying them while you prep the veggies!

Step 2: Now it is time for your vegetables! Begin dicing a tomato into small cubes. Next, slice about 6 pieces of cucumber - I prefer mine thin! Lastly, the star of the show - avocado. Slice several wedges of avocado to add to your salad. Once the vegetables are chopped and diced, begin placing them on the plate or bowl.

Step 3: Next, make your olive oil and lemon vinaigrette. Mix lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of oil together. I like to add a dash of cracked pepper to taste. Once, completed add the vinaigrette on top of the salad.

Tip: I typically use half of a lemon for the vinaigrette.

Step 4: Lastly, if you decided to add the bacon to your salad, go ahead and ensure your bits are cooked thoroughly. Then, add the bacon to your dish! Also, add a little cracked black pepper to top it off if you'd like.

Step 5: Enjoy!
